You start the game with nothing, no gear spells, guides (save for the manual on how to play.) it's up to you to find your way out of the hole the protagonist begins in which - for a game inspired by King's Field I was genuinely shocked/surprised to see a class selector and a very basic but still neat, character creator - once the intro cutscene's over you now find yourself deep an abyss with no obvious way out, walking onwards you get your first weapon, upon equipping it you can now truly begin the game, slaying basic enemies to level up so you can take more damage or even cast spells, two of which are found nearby, combat's basic you can either rapidly tap left-mouse button for quick but weak attacks, or hold it down to charge up an attack and do more damage, enemies have weakspots - mostly the head so there's some skill involved alongside avoiding hits because early on it's pretty easy to die and if you haven't saved. It's played from a First Person perspective, features mouselook/aim and full controller support if that's what you prefer. The gameplay is simple, deep and exhilarating. Lunacid has a lot of history to draw from and so far even though treading familiar ground it feels very unique, from the UI elements, locations, the setting, everything feels that it belongs here in Lunacid, not from some other IP/game, but purely Lunacid. Lunacid is a dark-fantasy RPG/Dungeon Crawler, heavily inspired by FromSofts Kings Field and Shadow Tower/Abyss - the grandfathers of Soulsborne as we know it, these are the games FromSoft found their initial userbase, eventually splitting off into Armored Core until 2009 when Demon Souls arrived quickly followed by Dark Souls 1 which took the world by storm and you can feel its effects to this day in multiple indie, AA and AAA games.
